Whitecaps FC striker Atiba Harris undergoes successful surgery

Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that striker Atiba Harris underwent successful knee surgery to his right meniscus. The operation was performed on Tuesday, April 26, by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Bob McCormack.


Atiba Harris joined Whitecaps FC last November after being selected in the second round (fourth overall) of the 2010 Major League Soccer (MLS) Expansion Draft. This season, the Saint Kitts and Nevis international has made five starts for 443 minutes of action, contributing offensively with two goals and three assists.


Following a 1-0 victory over Montreal Impact in the semifinal, first leg, of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship (NCC) on Wednesday night, Whitecaps FC continue their two-match road trip on Saturday night at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Vancouver's first-ever MLS regular season match against Columbus Crew will kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT and can be seen live on Rogers Sportsnet ONE and Bell mobile devices. 'Caps fans can also listen to the match on TEAM 1410 radio and teamradio.ca.


Whitecaps FC return to Bell Pitch at Empire Field on Wednesday, May 4, at 8 p.m. PT for the semifinal, second leg, against the Impact.
