Whitecaps FC have released all tickets to the much-anticipated LA Galaxy match on Saturday, July 30, on Bell Pitch at Empire Field. Overwhelming demand for these tickets has led Whitecaps FC to open Empire Field up completely to a capacity of 27,500.
“We are pleased to offer additional tickets to this exciting match against LA Galaxy for their first MLS visit to Bell Pitch at Empire Field this season,” said Paul Barber, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer. “On July 30, we will be able to welcome a record 27,500 fans to experience our match against the Galaxy, which has driven very high interest from our supporters hoping to get a look at all-star David Beckham and team, who are on a bit of a roll right now.”
Whitecaps FC kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT against LA Galaxy for the first competitive MLS meeting between the two sides. The ‘Caps and Galaxy have played each other in two previous exhibition matches in 2007 and 2008. On November 7, 2007, a crowd of 48,172 fans filled BC Place to see the 'Caps draw 0-0 with Los Angeles, while on May 13, 2008, Vancouver defeated the Galaxy 2-1 in front of 37,104 fans at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta.
