Whitecaps FC reschedule Real Salt Lake match for Bell Pitch downtown on Thursday, October 6

BC Place

Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in conjunction with Real Salt Lake and Major League Soccer, announced today that the Vancouver regular season home match versus Real Salt Lake will now take place on Thursday, October 6, 2011, on Bell Pitch downtown at BC Place Stadium. Kickoff for the second Whitecaps FC match to be played on Bell Pitch downtown this season is set for 6:30 p.m. PT.

The rescheduled match was originally scheduled to take place on July 16, but was postponed after heavy rainfall made the temporary grass pitch at Empire Field unplayable.

“We were very disappointed to have to postpone our Real Salt Lake match earlier this month,” said Paul Barber, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer. “With the match now rescheduled for October 6, we are delighted to offer our fans one additional opportunity to witness a Whitecaps FC match on Bell Pitch downtown at BC Place this season. We appreciate the understanding our fans have shown, as we worked towards rescheduling this match.”

The October 6 match will also be broadcast live on Sportsnet ONE, TEAM 1410 Sports Radio, as well as Bell mobile devices.

Season ticket holders will receive their October 6 ticket, along with all their tickets for matches on Bell Pitch downtown, in September.

Fans who purchased tickets as part of a Whitecaps FC match pack or group purchases, will have the option of having their ticket reissued or receiving a credit on account. Fans will receive detailed communication directly from the club, but are also encouraged to contact the Whitecaps FC office as soon as possible at 604.669.9283 to have their tickets or credits issued.

Fans who purchased single match tickets through Ticketmaster will have the option to exchange their ticket for either the August 7 match versus Chicago Fire, the August 27 match against Houston Dynamo, or the October 6 match. Refunds will be honoured through Ticketmaster until September 6.
