VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

The commissioner of Major League Soccer, Don Garber, was singing the praises of BC Place after his recent visit. "I can't imagine why we wouldn't bring a big event here like an All-Star or Cup or a big international friendly. This is a beautiful building, We'll be here; it's just a matter of when.” said Garber (Luke Wileman – TSN)


Whitecaps FC have seen the return of a familiar face in training recently. Ridge Mobulu, who played 20 games with the ‘Caps in USSF D-2, is training with the team in hopes of landing a spot on the MLS roster (Marc Weber- The Province).  

In what has been a season of growth and development for 2011 MLS SuperDraft rookie Omar Salgado, the young 18-year old American youth international is continuing to learn the life of professional soccer (Bruce Constantineau – Vancouver Sun). 

On Monday morning at Swangard stadium, Vancouver Whitecaps FC reserves were defeated by Portland Timbers reserves 1-0 off a late goal from Bryan Burke (Soccer by Ives).

CANADIAN SOCCER REPORT:

The Canadian Soccer Association National Championships, the largest national championship to be held across the country in one single week, kicks off this Wednesday, October 5 with competition running through Monday, October 10 (Canadian Soccer Association).

The 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament will be held at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, BC, from January 19 to 29, 2012.
