VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC were victorious 2-1 over D.C. United last night at BC Place with goals by Camilo and Long Tan. Marc Weber writes, “After the game, the "#LoveYouLongTan" hashtag — a way to mark topics — was trending on Twitter in Vancouver.” (Marc Weber – The Province)


Also an important component in the victory was ‘Caps midfielder John Thorrington, who earned the Budweiser ‘Man of the Match’ award following an impressive performance. “You can see how much we've missed him,” DeMerit said. “He's a guy that can calm things down when it gets a bit crazy.” (Bruce Constantineau – Vancouver Sun)

SportChek and Vancouver Whitecaps FC are teaming up to bring the Whitecaps FC Community Clinic to King’s Park in Penticton on October 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. Read about the soccer skills camp for kids to learn introductory skills and receive instruction from Whitecaps coaches, including club ambassador Carl Valentine. Long Tan made a proclamation after scoring the match winning goal on Bell Pitch downtown. “A Chinese guy can play [in] MLS,” Tan said after making history in a 2-1 win over D.C.
