VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC reserves play their final match in MLS Reserve League competition today against Chivas USA reserves. Check out the roster heading down to The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. (Marc Weber – The Province)


One player looking to make the most of the match is Whitecaps FC midfielder Davide Chiumiento, who impressed head coach Tom Soehn with a training session filled with hard work on Monday as the 26-year old looks to earn his spot back in the lineup. “He came to work today," Soehn said. THE SOCCER SCENE:

This week, CONCACAF Champions League action will conclude its ‘Group Stage’ portion of the competition as Toronto FC, Colorado Rapids, LA Galaxy, and FC Dallas all battle to advance into the next phase. Seattle Sounders FC, meanwhile, have already secured a berth as MLS hopes to send a record number of teams into the quarterfinals. (CCL)
