'Caps Chronicle: Worth the risk

'Caps Chronicle - March 26, 2012

WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

Three matches and three clean sheets are a huge testament to the commitment to team defence. The partnership at centre back between captain Jay DeMerit  and Argentinean defender Martin Bonjour has been key to the ‘Caps success. Bonjour's journey to Vancouver started in the most interesting of ways. Check out Marc Weber’s story on how coach Rennie scouted Bonjour and how that gamble is paying off. (Marc Weber - The Province)

While the 'Caps were playing at BC Place on Saturday, youngsters Bryce Alderson and Russell Teibert helped the Canadian U-23 national team to a historic result over the United States, as the Red and White recorded a 2-0 victory over the Stars and Stripes. This afternoon, the Canadians take on Cuba, and with a win can clinch a berth in the semi-finals and an opportunity to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics. (Bruce Constantineau - Vancouver Sun)

It turned out to be a fantastic day for Canadian soccer, as our ladies earned a huge 2-1 victory over a powerful Brazilian team. The match was highlighted by two goals from 'Caps alum and Canadian captain Christine Sinclair and some strong play by goalkeeper Katrina LeBlanc of Maple Ridge. (Marc Weber-The Province)

If you have been to ‘Caps Kickoff on Terry Fox plaza before a Whitecaps FC match, you know that there are some great activities for fans of all ages to participate in. One of those activities is a demonstration of some great ball juggling. Speaking of fancy footwork, moves like that and other soccer tricks can be found in the new EA SPORTS FIFA Street videogame. Make sure you check out this review about the brand new soccer videogame. (Paul Chapman - The Province)
