Playing in the third match of a 10-match Reserve League schedule, the Blue and White reserves squad will be looking to maintain their undefeated streak and place at the top of the West Division table by continuing to build on the momentum of their 2-1 Reserve League win over San Jose Earthquakes reserves at the beginning of the month. Meanwhile, Portland comes to Vancouver on the heels of defeating Seattle Sounders FC reserves 2-0 on April 10.

The 'Caps reserves will be out to avenge the results of last season's fixtures with their Pacific Northwest rivals after being defeated by Portland in both of their meetings, including a 3-2 loss at JELD-WEN Field in August, and a 1-0 defeat at Swangard Stadium in October. Portland finished second overall in the West Division behind Seattle reserves. The three Cascadian rivals are joined in the West Division by Chivas USA, LA Galaxy, and San Jose Earthquakes.

Following this Sunday's derby match, the ‘Caps reserves will compete in three more home matches during their Reserve League campaign. All three remaining matches will be held at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium: Tuesday, June 12, against LA Galaxy reserves; Monday, July 23, against Chivas USA reserves; and Monday, September 10, against San Jose Earthquakes reserves. Kickoff will be11 a.m. PT for the three remaining matches at Thunderbird Stadium.

Subsequent to Monday’s match, Whitecaps FC reserves’ next league action takes place on Sunday, May 27, as Vancouver visit Portland Timbers reserves.
