Looking to return to winning ways in the MLS Reserve League, Vancouver Whitecaps FC reserves (1W-1L-1D) travel to The City of Roses to take on Pacific Northwest rivals Portland Timbers reserves (2W-1L-0D) on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff from JELD-WEN Field in Portland, Oregon, is set for 2 p.m. PT.

The ‘Caps second string will be looking to bounce back from last month’s 3-0 home defeat to the Timbers reserves at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC, by earning their first Reserve League result over their Cascadia foes. Portland’s second string are 3W-0L-0D all-time versus their Vancouver counterparts since both clubs started playing in the Reserve League last season. Yet, Whitecaps FC’s only Reserve League win this season came on the road when they won 2-1 at San Jose Earthquakes reserves on April 8.

Led by assistant coaches Carl Robinson (pictured left) and Paul Ritchie (pictured right), the ‘Caps reserves will include members of Vancouver’s first-team squad that see limited to no action in Saturday’s big MLS clash between these two Cascadia Cup rivals at JELD-WEN Field on Saturday night. Recent Homegrown player signing Caleb Clarke is part of Vancouver’s travelling roster, as is Whitecaps FC Residency centre back Daniel Stanese.

The ‘Caps reserves have three more home matches during their 2012 Reserve League campaign. Those three remaining home matches will be held at Thunderbird Stadium on the campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC): Tuesday, June 12, against LA Galaxy reserves; Monday, July 23, against Chivas USA reserves; and Monday, September 10, against San Jose Earthquakes reserves. Kickoff for all three matches at Thunderbird Stadium is set for 11 a.m. PT and admission is free of charge.
