VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that tickets to Wednesday’s highly anticipated home match against LA Galaxy at BC Place are officially sold out.

Tickets are still available for Sunday’s contest against San Jose Earthquakes, where the club’s newly signed Designated Player and Scotland national team striker Kenny Miller is set to make his Whitecaps FC debut with the squad.

“The Galaxy are always a huge draw and we’re very pleased that our fans will be filling the building tomorrow night for this highly anticipated match,” said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi. “But Sunday afternoon’s game against the first-place San Jose Earthquakes is just as important for us, and is sure to be an exciting rematch.”

Lenarduzzi added: “With a home record of 5W-1L-3D, BC Place has proven to be a difficult stadium for visiting clubs this season, and we urge fans to show their support both tomorrow when we take on the Galaxy, and again on Sunday against the Earthquakes.”

Miller will look to help Whitecaps FC claim the season series against San Jose, after their unforgettable meeting on May 5 at BC Place ended in a 2-1 victory thanks to a stunning last-second winning goal from striker Eric Hassli.

Vancouver is one of only four MLS clubs to have handed the Earthquakes a defeat this season. San Jose are coming off a dominant 5-0 win over second-place Real Salt Lake, following a three-goal and one assist effort from striker Chris Wondolowski.

Wondolowski leads the league with 17 goals in 18 appearances this season — just 10 short of the all-time MLS record of 27 set by Roy Lassiter in 1996. Since MLS started awarding the Golden Boot in 2005, only two players have scored more than Wondolowski — Luciano Emilio in 2007 and Landon Donovan in 2008 with 20 goals each. At the other end, Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Joe Cannon will look to extend his remarkable league-leading shut-out record.

Sunday’s match between Whitecaps FC and San Jose Earthquakes kicks off at 4 p.m. PT. Individual match tickets start at $20, plus applicable service charges, and are available at all Ticketmaster Ticket Centres, online at ticketmaster.ca, and Charge-by-Phone at 1.855.6.GO-CAPS (1.855.646.2277).
