Canadian U-17 men's national team win 3-2 at 2012 AGS Cup

U-17 AGS Cup

Canada's men's U-17 team won 3-2 over Morocco on the second match day of the six-team 2012 AGS Cup in Spain. Down to 10 men, Canada scored the winning goal midway through the second half to improve its record to one win and one draw. Canada's 3-2 win on September 30 was preceded by a 2-2 draw with Azerbaijan on September 29.

"We played some very good football in the first half," said Canadian U-17 coach Sean Fleming. "In the second half, we showed great character to overcome adversity and score with only 10 men."

Against Morocco, Canada's goalscorers were Jordan Hamilton, Hanson Boakai and Elias Roubos. Goalkeeper Daniel Milton was selected Canada's player of the match.

Canada will train on Monday before returning to action on Tuesday October 2. For its next three matches, Canada faces Mexico on Tuesday October 2, USA on Thursday October 4, and UAE on Saturday October 6.

This marks Fleming's second 2012 project with the 1996-born players. The team is in its early preparations for the 12-team 2013 CONCACAF Men's Under-17 Championship, which runs April 6 to 19 in Ciudad Panama. Only four teams from CONCACAF will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013, which runs October 17 to November 8.
