Saturday’s Whitecaps FC match may have ended 0-0, but the ball did end up in the back of the net at halftime in a thrilling Kia Fan Showdown.
After thousands of entries to Kia and TSN’s summer Fandemonium contest, three contestants were randomly selected to participate in a halftime challenge. Each contestant was given one shot to score a goal from the centre of the field, with the winner receiving a Whitecaps FC customized Kia Sorento.

The three contestants were:
- Jesse Aben (Calgary)
- David Rames Moguel (Vancouver)
- Morris Elfenbaum (Regina)
Should more than one person have scored, each person scorer would have received a key, with only one key unlocking the door to the new Sorento. However, in the end Jesse Aben was the only person to successfully find the back of the net from distance, thus winning himself a new ride!
On hand to present the vehicle to Jesse were Kia’s national marketing manager, Bryan Weir, and retail marketing manager, Marc Desgroseilliers.
