What better way could there be to thank our fans for their incredible support!”

Fans attending the match are encouraged to come sporting a mullet in honour of captain Jay DeMerit’s vow to grow the back of his hair until Whitecaps FC qualify for the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs. All fans who come to the match with a mullet – whether with a haircut, wig, hair extensions or other creative method – can enter to win Jay DeMerit’s jersey off his back at the conclusion of the match. Ballots for entry will be available prior to the match at ‘Caps Kickoff on Terry Fox Plaza. Additionally, all fans with mullets will also receive a 10% discount off all regularly priced merchandise.

Before the match, fans can visit the official Playoff Hunter mullet barber shop at ‘Caps Kickoff. Haircuts will be by donation (minimum $5) with all proceeds going to the United Way of the Lower Mainland. A limited number of wigs will also be available by donation. However, fans are encouraged to bring their own wig.

Prior to kickoff, seasonal awards will be presented including Player of the Year, Jock MacDonald Unsung Hero, Most Promising Player, and Humanitarian of the Year. Fans can vote for the Player of the Year award by visiting whitecapsfc.com.

After the match, 28 lucky fans – including the mullet winner – will be invited down to the pitch to receive the jerseys off Whitecaps FC players’ backs.  Whitecaps FC hosts will come find the lucky winners during the match.

The Vancouver Southsiders supporters group are also encouraging all fans to join them in costume for their annual fancy dress night. For more details, visithttp://ow.ly/ev1qQ.
