Around 20 bars and pubs throughout downtown and across the city are gearing up for Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s historic MLS Cup Western Conference Knockout Round clash away to Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday, November 1.
After playing Real Salt Lake on October 27, head coach Martin Rennie and his team will then turn their attention towards a win-or-go-home date with the Galaxy and their trio of stars in David Beckham, Landon Donovan, and Robbie Keane.
The match next Thursday kicks off at 7.30 p.m. PT and will be shown live on TSN. TEAM 1040 Radio and CFAX 1070 in Victoria will also be broadcasting the match live.
With the Knockout Round battle taking place during the week, several pubs and bars across town and on the north shore have teamed up with Whitecaps FC and will be screening the match in HD and with sound to cater for the after-work crowd.
There will be food and drink specials for the big game as well as playoff ticket giveaways.
The Vancouver Southsiders supporters group will be setting up shop at their usual watering hole at Doolin’s Irish Pub on Granville Street while Rain City Brigade will be assembling at Library Square Public House on Georgia Street.
