Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Caleb Clarke (above, right) scored twice as Canada’s U-20 national team defeated their Costa Rican counterparts 2-0 in a friendly in San José on Wednesday.

Nick Dasovic’s men could have had even had more as midfielder Samuel Piette had a shot go off the crossbar in a game played at the Costa Rican federation’s national training facility in the Central American capital. Toronto FC's Doneil Henry wore the captain's armband.

Both teams are preparing for February’s CONCACAF U-20 Championship that also serves as a qualifying tournament for next summer’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

Canada were drawn into Group B in the CONCACAF tournament alongside Cuba and Nicaragua, while Costa Rica ended up in Group A alongside the US and Haiti.
