VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in conjunction with the United Soccer Leagues (USL), announced today the club’s 2013 USL Premier Development League (PDL) regular season schedule.

After a fifth place finish in 2012, Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23 will face tough competition in the Western Conference’s Northwest Division. With all three Cascadia clubs once again fielding PDL teams, Whitecaps FC can look forward to a pair of matches against rivals Portland Timbers FC U-23 and 2012 PDL Northwest Division champions Seattle Sounders FC U-23.

“We’re really looking forward to entering our sixth season in the PDL,” said Bob Lenarduzzi, Whitecaps FC president. “With a number of strong teams established in our division, this league will continue to provide a great proving ground for our younger players.”
Whitecaps FC U-23 will be led this season by Stuart Neely, Whitecaps FC head of high performance.
“We’re going to have a strong mix of talent on our roster,” said Neely. “Every match is competitive in the PDL and there are no easy points to be had. Rivalries will continue to grow, so I anticipate an exciting season ahead.”
The ‘Caps open their 2013 PDL schedule at home on Friday, May 10, against Kitsap Pumas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT. A week later, Whitecaps FC host Victoria Highlanders FC with kickoff also scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
The next three home matches see the ‘Caps play host to North Sound SeaWolves FC at 3 p.m. PT on Sunday May 26, Seattle Sounders FC U-23 at 7 p.m. PT on Friday, June 21, and Victoria Highlanders FC at 7 p.m. PT on Friday, June 28.
Neely’s side finishes the 2013 PDL home campaign with two matches in three days. On Friday, July 12 the Blue and White host Portland Timbers FC U-23 at 7 p.m. PT, while on Sunday, July 14 Whitecaps FC take on the Washington Crossfire at 4 p.m. PT.
Venues for all Whitecaps FC PDL home matches are still to be confirmed.
