The TWO ONE: Is it Saturday yet?

Camilo fans

With the season starting on Saturday, finally we can look forward to some ‘Caps matches once again.

I can’t wait to go to bed the night before the game, dreaming about going to BC Place for the opening game of the season (*DISCLAIMER: Carl can have some pretty wild dreams). I look forward to getting up in the morning to cook my English breakfast and make a strong cup of tea.

After that it will be time to get my Whitecaps suit ready and make sure I have my pass to get into the stadium (yes, I do need one).

The nervous butterflies start when I get into my car for the journey from the North Shore to downtown. To calm my nerves I put on some music, which is usually my favorite artist Marvin Gaye and especially his soulful hit “Let’s get it on”.

I like to get to the game a couple of hours before kickoff.

The TWO ONE: Is it Saturday yet? -

As I approach the stadium this Saturday I look forward to seeing the fans interacting with our partners at ‘Caps Kickoff on Terry Fox Plaza and being able to chat and get into the atmosphere outside BC Place, which really ramps up when the Southsiders march to the stadium singing and chanting all the way.

Then it’s on to the media room as I look forward to seeing what fashion guru Marc Weber from the Province will be wearing. I always have a good chat with the members of the media to get some predictions for the game and chat about the possible starting lineup.

Throughout the day I’ll often bump into ‘Caps senior communications manager Nathan Vanstone, who is constantly churning his wee legs as he stays busy moving about BC Place.

Once I have finished my duties before the game, it’s time to look forward to the teams coming out on the field and enjoying the game kicking off and reveling in the wonderful atmosphere created by some of the best fans in North America.

Seeing what team Martin Rennie starts for this first match is something that I am really looking forward to. Martin has the squad he has longed for and there are many exciting options he can choose from. This will be a tough team to stop with a lot more fire power, which will make for many-a-thrilling match for our fans.

Finally, come the end of the match, I look forward to presenting the Budweiser Man of the Match to a deserving Darren Mattocks – who will score two goals in a 3-0 victory to give our Vancouver Whitecaps FC a wining start to the 2013 Major League Soccer season.

All-in-all I’m looking forward to an exciting day of thrilling soccer at BC Place.

Make sure you don’t miss out!
