Following his two goal performance against LA Galaxy this past Saturday, May 11, Whitecaps FC midfielder Russell Teibert has been named to EA SPORTS FIFA Ultimate Team of the Week.
EA SPORTS FIFA Ultimate Team of the Week names the best performing players from around the world for each given week and gives them a higher, “in-form” rating than their usual in-game rating.
This week’s team also features the likes of international stars such as Paris Saint-Germain FC striker Jérémy Ménez, Chelsea FC midfielder Frank Lampard, and Liverpool FC striker Daniel Sturridge.
The 20-year old Canadian scored his first two professional goals on Saturday, the day before Mother’s Day, in front of his mother, father, and sister in a 3-1 win against the two-time defending MLS Cup champions.
A graduate of Whitecaps FC’s Residency program, Teibert joined Whitecaps FC's Major League Soccer roster after signing a Generation adidas contract as a Home Grown player on March 17, 2011. Named Canadian U-17 Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009, the Canadian international joined the Residency program on September 10, 2008.
The young midfielder is the first ever Canadian to be named to the team. Teibert was also named to MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week for his Week 11 performance.
