Whitecaps FC Reserves host Chivas USA Reserves at Thunderbird Stadium

VANCOUVER, BC – Looking to continue their undefeated start to the MLS Reserve League season, Vancouver Whitecaps FC Reserves (2W-0L-1D) host Chivas USA Reserves (2W-0L-0D) this coming Wednesday, June 5 at UBC Thunderbird Stadium. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC

Whitecaps FC are currently undefeated to start the 2013 MLS Reserve League season. The ‘Caps won their first two matches of the season having beaten Real Salt Lake 2-0 on April 13 and then defeating Colorado Rapids 2-1 on May 7 in Colorado.


In their last outing, the Blue and White earned a 1-1 draw on Sunday, May 19 against Portland Timbers at Thunderbird Stadium. The lone ‘Caps goal came from Tommy Heinemann, who now has five goals across all Reserve League matches, exhibition matches, and scrimmages with Whitecaps FC Reserves this season.


CHIVAS USA

The Goats are going into this match leading the standings in the West Division with a record of 2W-0L-0D. They too are undefeated in MLS Reserve League action this year with wins coming against Real Salt Lake (3-2) and Seattle Sounders FC (2-1).


Goals for the Goats have come from five different players, with Gabriel Farfán, Carlos Álvarez, Manuel Rivera, Caleb Calvert, and Tristan Bowen all netting one goal each for Chivas USA.


HEAD-TO-HEAD

Whitecaps FC have an all time record of 0W-2L-2D against Chivas USA in MLS Reserve League action. In their last meeting, on August 3, 2012, the ‘Caps earned a 1-1 draw against the Goats, with the lone goal coming from former ‘Caps striker Atiba Harris.


The Blue and White also faced Chivas USA on July 23, 2012, when the ‘Caps fell 3-1 to the Goats with the lone goal for Whitecaps FC coming from Residency midfielder Kianz Froese.


Their previous encounters occurred in the 2011 season, during which the ‘Caps drew 1-1 on April 17 with the goal coming from Omar Salgado, and lost 1-0 on October 18 in the final match of their MLS Reserves League season.
