Whitecaps FC goalkeeper David Ousted
- Played 10 seasons in Denmark, including four seasons in top flight Superliga
- Earned 35 clean sheets in 103 matches for Randers FC over three seasons
- Helped Randers FC finish third in the 2012-13 Danish Superliga to qualify for the UEFA Europe League
- Made six appearances for Randers FC in the 2010-11 UEFA Europa League
“David is a solid goalkeeper with a commanding presence at the back,” said Whitecaps FC head coach Martin Rennie. “He’s been an outstanding performer in Denmark over the past couple of seasons and I’m delighted to welcome him to the club.”
A native of Greve, Denmark, Ousted joins Whitecaps FC following a successful 2012-13 season with Randers FC, backstopping his club to a third-place finish in the Danish Superliga, which earned them qualification to next year’s UEFA Europa League. The 6-foot-4 stopper made 39 total appearances in 2012-13, earning 14 clean sheets. Six of those appearances came in Randers’ run to the Danish Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Esbjerg fB.
The rangy goalkeeper first joined Randers in 2010, when he made his debut in the UEFA Europa League in a 6-1 win against F91 Dudelange. Ousted went on to make 85 league appearances for the Horses and 103 appearances overall, with 35 clean sheets during his three seasons. During that time, Ousted led his side to promotion from the Danish 1st Division after finishing second in 2011-12 and then followed that success with last season’s third place finish in the top flight Danish Superliga.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper started his career with Danish giants Brondby IF in 2003 and remained there until 2006, with brief loan spells at lower division sides Nykøbing Falster Alliancen and Akademisk Boldklub. Following a short stint at Danish First Division side Hellerup IK in the 2006-07 season, Ousted joined SønderjyskE in 2007 and helped them earn promotion to the top flight in his first season with SE. Ousted made 62 appearances for the Haderslev based club.
Internationally, Ousted made one appearance with Denmark's U-19 national team and was also called into camp with his country's U-20 and U-21 national squads.
