Vancouver Whitecaps FC (MLS RS 3W-4L-3D - ACC 2-0-0) travel east to face Montreal Impact (MLS RS 6W-2L-2D - ACC 1-1-0) in the first leg of their Amway Canadian Championship (ACC) final tonight at Stade Saputo. In the semifinals, Vancouver defeated NASL side FC Edmonton 5-2 on aggregate and Montreal defeated Toronto FC 6-2 on aggregate. Following the conclusion of the ACC final first leg against the Impact, Whitecaps FC will return home to host MLS Western Conference rivals Portland Timbers for their first match that will count towards the 2013 Cascadia Cup . Kickoff for Saturday’s match at BC Place is 4 p.m. PT.

This will be the 57th meeting between Whitecaps FC and Montreal Impact but only the second since both clubs have been in MLS. It is also their ninth meeting in the Canadian Championship, VWFC hold a slight edge at 3-2-3 (2-1-1 in Montreal).

Vancouver hosted Montreal in their inaugural MLS match on Match 10, 2012, with Whitecaps FC defeated the Impact 2-0 on goals from Le Toux and Camilo.  Following the second leg of the ACC Finals in Vancouver on May 29, Vancouver will travel back to Stade Saputo for their lone MLS regular season meeting in 2013 on September 21.

Whitecaps FC’s overall record in the ACC is 9W-7L-6D (GF 25 – GA 18) including a record of 5-4-2 (GF 11 – GA 9) on the road.  #7 Camilo has scored three goals, tied with former striker Eric Hassli and midfielder Ansu Toure for most goals by VWFC player in Canadian Championship play. Former TFC playmaker Dwayne De Rosario is the all-time leader in tournament goals with four.

EASTERN OPPOSITION
Whitecaps FC’s record against opponents from the Eastern Conference in 2012 stood at a respectable 3-4-3, this year is 2-1-0 with wins over Toronto FC, Columbus Crew and a lone defeat at Houston Dynamo. All time in MLS play Vancouver are 8-13-8 against the east.
