VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC wrapped up training in Casa Grande, Arizona on Tuesday to conclude the first leg of their 2014 preseason.
After a week of training in Vancouver, the ‘Caps left for Arizona on February 3 for a 10-day camp that included exhibition matches against North American Soccer League side Indy Eleven and Cascadia rival Seattle Sounders FC.
Vancouver opened their 2014 preseason campaign with a 3-2 win over Indy Eleven on February 5, before suffering back-to-back 2-1 defeats to Sounders FC.
The ‘Caps flew back to Vancouver on Wednesday afternoon and they are off on Thursday before returning to training on Friday with a pair of sessions at the University of British Columbia – in the morning at Thunderbird Stadium and afternoon at Varsity Field.
They will also train on Saturday at Musqueam Park, before departing for Victoria later in the day. Whitecaps FC will then conclude their 2014 preseason schedule with three matches at the 2014 Rose City Invitational between February 23 and March 1.
Carl Robinson’s side will have a slightly different look when they return to training this week, as Robinson and his coaching staff made a few roster decisions at the conclusion of the Casa Grande camp.
Three players who won’t be continuing with the team in the preseason are goalkeeper Patrick McLain, right back Jordan Cyrus, and midfielder Michael Calderon, while striker Mackenzie Pridham (ankle) will return home to continue his rehabilitation and will re-join the team when healthy.
