Today marked the seventh annual Pink Shirt Day, and people all across Canada were wearing pink to symbolize that we as a society will not tolerate bullying anywhere. Whitecaps FC club ambassador Carl Valentine, ‘Caps mascot Spike and Whitecaps FC staff were on hand downtown Vancouver early this morning, as they campaigned to help raise awareness on bullying and show their support for Pink Shirt Day.
“It’s important to create awareness and make sure no child is bullied anywhere”, said Whitecaps FC club ambassador, Carl Valentine. Throughout the morning, the ‘Caps were full of energy, sporting #PinkShirtDay colours as they helped distribute pink buttons for donation to commuters and passersby.
All donations raised on Pink Shirt Day benefit anti-bullying programs in British Columbia, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Coast BC, Kidsafe, Kids Help Phone, and other select charities working in bullying prevention and solution efforts.
