VANCOUVER, BC – Centerplate, the hospitality service provider to Vancouver’s premier entertainment destinations, has recently announced the appointment of a new executive chef in its kitchen at BC Place.

New executive chef William Tse joins Centerplate after serving at the helm of well-known restaurants such as Goldfish Pacific Kitchen, Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House, and most recently, Sandbar Seafood Restaurant.

Tse, who moved to Vancouver from Toronto in 1992 to pursue his formal culinary training, has garnered numerous awards for his signature style, which combines classical European techniques with authentic Asian cuisine.

Chef Tse’s accolades include:

  • BC Masterchef in 2012 and 2013
  • BC Asian Chef of the Year in 2013
  • BC Chef of the Year in 2013
  • BC Chinese Chef of the Year in 2013
  • 3rd overall in the National Chef Challenge in 2013

“We are very excited to welcome Chef Tse to the team and look forward to having his diverse background and breadth of experience driving innovation and shaping the menus here,” said Michael Baker, the Centerplate general manager of food and catering services at BC Place.

“William is an extraordinarily talented chef who brings a wealth of expertise, passion, and creativity to the hospitality program,” Baker added. “We think fans will love his contributions to the matchday experience.”

Some of the new menu offerings by executive chef William Tse and Centerplate include:

Asian steamed buns

Conceptualized by Tse, Asian steamed buns have been added to suite and concession menus and will come in two choices: a short-rib steamed bun with coconut and star anise, or a tofu and shitake mushroom steamed bun. Both options will be served with a pickled Asian slaw.

Premium burger

Due to the overwhelming reception to the premium burger which was served in BC Place executive suites last season, Centerplate has introduced a new version that will be on the suite menu again this year, as well as at all burger concession stands in BC Place.

"We want to serve the best burger in British Columbia, so all of our locations will offer guests burgers made from 100% regionally-sourced natural beef, which we grind and hand-form with our signature spice blend right here at BC Place Stadium," said Baker.

Returning stadium favourites include grilled bacon-wrapped hot dogs, short rib poutines and European-style hot dogs that are crafted locally by D-Original Sausage.
