VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today the club’s 2014-15 Pre-Residency roster.
"We have added to what is already a fantastic group,” said Whitecaps FC Pre-Residency head coach Bart Choufour. “We’re looking forward to supporting and nurturing these young players, but also to challenge them to maximize their full potential. I believe this is going to be a great group."
Seven players return, including Vancouver, BC native Jude Barrow; North Vancouver, BC native Evan Ince; Burnaby, BC native Alessandro Hojabrpour; New Westminster, BC native Nikolas Papakyriakopoulos; Surrey, BC native Travis Selj; and Coquitlam, BC natives Gabriel Escobar and Trevor Schneider.
Fifteen new players enter the program from the BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL), including Brandon Bassi and Sahil Dhindsa from Coastal FC; Nikolas White, Brendan Morden, Logan Chung, Jared Carlin, and Tudor Mihaila from Coquitlam Metro-Ford; Isiah Smith from Fraser Valley FC; Nicolas Budisa and Justyn Sandhu from Fusion FC; Tristan Torresan, Devin O’Hea, and Eryk Kobza from Mountain United FC; and Ali Zohar from Surrey United SC.
This year's roster features 13 players who are also products of the BC Soccer Provincial Development Program, including: Bassi, Budisa, Chung, Dhindsa, Kobza, McCall, Mihaila, Morden, O'Hea, Sandhu, Torresan, White, and Zohar.
The Pre-Residency team have kicked off their season, which will consist of a series of friendly matches against older opposition as well as MLS Pre-Academy tournaments.
As part of the Whitecaps FC Residency program, players will be given evolving developmental objectives and will be challenged daily across all four corners of player development (technical, tactical, mental, and physical). Each player will be provided the necessary support and guidance from the club to nurture their talent and maximize their potential.
