Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that the club will host its inaugural WFC2 Open Tryout, presented by adidas. , and closes on Wednesday, February 18. Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
At least one participant from the open tryout is guaranteed to be invited to take part in WFC2 preseason training camp and be given an opportunity to earn a spot on the inaugural WFC2 roster.
“There are a wealth of players out there who deserve an opportunity to be evaluated for a professional opportunity,” said newly appointed WFC2 head coach Alan Koch. “I’m looking forward to having a look at potential players.”
Tryouts will take place at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium, home of WFC2, on Saturday, February 21 and Sunday, February 22. WFC2 coaches and technical staff will be on hand to evaluate talent. Exact schedule and game times will be confirmed at a later date.
There will be a $150 registration fee, which includes two tickets to a 2015 WFC2 match. All participants are required to cover their own costs related to travel, food, and accommodation.
Interested participants should come prepared for the tryouts with their own cleats, shin guards, socks, gloves, and any other additional equipment they will require.
