Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency take both matches against Crossfire Premier

VANCOUVER, BC – Playing at home for the second consecutive weekend, Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency played against Northwest Division rivals Crossfire Premier on Saturday, February 7.


U-18

In the first match of the afternoon, Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency (14W-3L-3D) were able to score twice, beating Crossfire Premier 2-1.


Dario Zanatta opened the scoring in the 30th minute, when he was on the receiving end of a cross from the left side and had the composure to control the ball and slot it in from the top of the goal area.


In the 61st minute, Jeevin Kang from the left side of the field sent in a great cross with his right foot and Terran Campbell made a great side foot finish to put the Blue and White up 2-0.


Goalkeeper Luciano Trasolini had a good game, making some big saves for the ‘Caps. One of his biggest on the day came in the 45th when he made a goal line save, pushing the ball past the post to preserve the lead at halftime as the Blue and White went on to victory.

U-16

Continuing their consistent play, Whitecaps FC U-16 Residency (14W-2L-4D) won 3-1 against Crossfire Premier.


The ‘Caps got off to a great start Saturday afternoon when Cole Morokhovich opened the scoring three minutes into the match when he headed in a Kadin Chung cross that was swung in from the right side.


Gloire Amanda and Georges Mukumbilwa created the second Whitecaps FC goal when Mukumbilwa passed the ball to Amanda at the top of the penalty area, who then struck the ball with such force that even contact from the Crossfire keeper's palm the ball could not keep the ball from the back of the net.


Amanda scored his second of the match in spectacular fashion when he was one-on-one with a charging goalkeeper and calmly chipped the ball over him and into the bottom corner on the far side of the net.
