Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency teams had a productive weekend, both at home and on the road.
U-18
The U-18 'Caps were beaten in their first match, but earned a draw in their second.
First up was a match against Real Salt Lake Arizona Academy on Saturday. A tough match ultimately ended in a 3-0 defeat for the 'Caps. (Boxscore)
Next up was a match with FC Golden State on Sunday. This time, William Grayson scored for the Blue and White to preserve a point in a 1-1 draw. (Boxscore)
U-16
Whitecaps FC U-16 had a productive weekend, taking a draw and a victory.
In their Saturday match at Real Salt Lake Arizona Academy, the U-16 'Caps earned a 1-1 draw. The home side took the lead five minutes into the second half, but the 'Caps responded with a header goal from Gloire Amanda to take a point. (Boxscore)
"Credit to our boys as they kept trying to play good football and were rewarded with a well worked tying goal," said interim head coach Carl Valentine after the match.
Amanda was back at it with another goal on Sunday. That strike combined with a tally from Munir Saleh gave the 'Caps a 2-1 in over FC Golden State. (Boxscore)
Pre-Residency
Back in BC, the club hosted the 2015 Whitecaps FC Pre-Academy Series against Alberta Soccer Association, Portland Timbers, and Seattle Sounders FC.
On Friday, the young 'Caps had a 2-1 result against Alberta.
Saturday saw a 1-0 result against the Timbers.
And finally on Sunday, an exciting match ended 5-4 for the Blue and White.
Earlier in the week, the Pre-Residency squad held a combine evaulating top talent from the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League and the club's regional academy centres.
This week, a number of teams from the club's academy centres will be taking part in the annual adidas cup, and next weekend in the Whitecaps FC Showcase. In the week leading up to the showcase, the club will host an HPP Academy Centre training camp.
