April Fools! 'Caps share their favourite pranks

Kekuta and Erik - April Fools - Photoshoot

There are no shortage of pranksters in the ‘Caps locker room.

Centre back Pa-Modou Kah and goalkeeper coach Marius Rovde are the usual culprits. You can never let your guard down around them (as Carl Robinson found out on the team’s recent trip to Orlando).

And with today being April Fools' Day, they’ll probably have a trick or two up their sleeves again. To celebrate the occasion, I asked a few players to share of the funniest pranks they’ve come across – or been a part of – over their time playing soccer.

Here’s what they had to say.

ROBERT EARNSHAW:

“One time, I think I was at Cardiff City, one of the guys brought a live fish and put it inside one of the guys’ cars and just kept it there for weeks. It stunk and he didn’t know where it was coming from. Someone also put a steak in my car. After a week or week and a half, that stinks as well.”

KEKUTA MANNEH:

“It was one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever done. We were rookies and they came in and said, ‘You do as your told.’ We did a photo shoot. They orchestrated it really well and said it was an appearance for a rookie calendar. So Erik Hurtado and I did a photo shoot. They got us in the bathtub and stuff … it was crazy.”

Speaking of Manneh, he's apparently joining Cirque du Soleil, as CTV Vancouver reported today.

PAOLO TORNAGHI:

“Last year I was new so I didn’t really know what to expect for April 1st. Our team manager sent an email out with a big schedule of meetings from very early in the morning to very late in the evening. He said every player had to meet with the owners of the club. Everyone was kind of scared and everyone was kind of upset that it was a full day of meetings, but then we realized it was a prank so that was a good one.”

STEVEN BEITASHOUR:

“Saran Wrap on the toilet seat. So when someone goes number one, it splashes everywhere. That hasn’t happened here, but in the past. It’s quite funny when you hear someone’s reaction.”
