– Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that Adam Day has been appointed as U-16 Residency head coach. The club also announced that Frank Ciaccia has been appointed as Residency recruitment officer.
“We’re thrilled to welcome two quality additions to our Residency technical staff,” said Whitecaps FC Residency technical director Craig Dalrymple. “Adam and Frank will both help continue to push our program forward.”
A UEFA A License coach, Day returns to Whitecaps FC after working with the club’s U-23 United Soccer Leagues (USL) Premier Development League (PDL) team in 2014, as the ‘Caps qualified for the PDL playoffs for the second time. Day also worked with Whitecaps FC when the club took part in the Super-Y League as U-15 girls head coach. The native of Bexley, England was previously head coach of the Quest University men’s soccer team and has experience working for Charlton Athletic in England and with Arsenal FC at their Academy in Greece. Prior to rejoining Whitecaps FC, Day was head coach of Surrey United’s U-17 boys and U-16 girls’ teams in the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) and technical consultant at West Coast FC here in BC. Most recently, Day was an assistant coach in the club’s Girls Elite Regional Excel Centre (REX) program.
Ciaccia joins Whitecaps FC after most recently serving as technical director of Mountain United FC in the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League. During his time at Mountain United FC, Ciaccia was instrumental in creating and leading one of the league’s most successful clubs. In his playing days, Ciaccia played for North American Soccer League (NASL) side Toronto Blizzard, and for the Canadian men’s national team. In his role as recruitment officer, Ciaccia will be responsible for the identification and recruitment of players into the Whitecaps FC Residency program.
