VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC are preparing for a busy May and announced today that the May 16 Cascadia home match against rival Seattle Sounders FC is sold out. While the May 16 match is sold out, tickets remain for the Saturday, May 9 and Wednesday, May 13 matches.
On Saturday, May 9, fans can participate in a doubleheader as the ‘Caps host the first-ever alumni match versus Whitecaps FC 2 at BC Place at 1:45 p.m. PT. The alumni match will feature legend Young-Pyo Lee, former captain Jay DeMerit and fan favourite goalkeeper Jay Nolly. Tickets for this charity match, in support of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, are $5 and can be purchased by calling 604.669.9283 ext. 2. A ticket for that afternoon’s MLS match is also required for entry. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase at Gate A on matchday.
The May 9 match versus MLS side Philadelphia Union is set to kick off at 4 p.m. PT and is the first matchup of the season between the two sides. Saturday’s match will be an important one for Whitecaps FC as they look to remain at the top of both the MLS and Western Conference standings.
Four days later, on Wednesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. PT, Whitecaps FC will play host to North American Soccer League side FC Edmonton in the second leg of the 2015 Amway Canadian Championship seminfinal series. The winner of the semifinal will meet either Toronto FC or Montreal Impact in the two-leg final in August.
