REMAINING CASCADIA SCHEDULE

  • July 18: Portland vs. Vancouver at Providence Park
  • August 1: Seattle vs. Vancouver at CenturyLink Field
  • August 30: Seattle vs. Portland at CenturyLink Field
  • September 19: Vancouver vs. Seattle at BC Place

The origins of the Cascadia Cup date back to when Vancouver, Portland and Seattle were members of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) First Division. The combined supporters of the three clubs created the two-foot tall silver Cup, which is awarded annually to the team with the best head-to-head record over their Pacific Northwest rivals in regular season matches.

Footage from last year's Cascadia Cup celebrations in Seattle

Vancouver won the first two editions of the competition in 2004 and 2005 and added a third title in 2008. Whitecaps FC have also won the last two editions of the tournament, making them the most successful club in competition history.

No team has ever won the Cascadia Cup three years in a row.
NEW CHAPTER

Speaking of Cascadia, the 'Caps and Sounders are set to add a new chapter to their longstanding rivalry next month, when they do battle in the CONCACAF Champions League.

After their regular season match on August 1 in Seattle, the two teams will meet again four days later at BC Place in Whitecaps FC's first-ever CCL match.

The CCL match will not count towards the Cascadia Cup standings, but it's sure to be a momentous one for both clubs. Tickets are still available.
