VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that midfielder Andre Lewis has been called up to the Jamaican U-23 national team ahead of the next round of Caribbean qualifying for the 2015 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.

Jamaica will face Cuba on Friday, August 14 in the Caribbean Zone semifinals at Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Should they win their semifinal, Jamaica will advance to the 2015 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship in October, the tournament used to determine the region’s qualifiers for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. The Caribbean Zone final, which will determine seeding for the entrants, will be played on Sunday, August 16.

Lewis will look to continue his success with Jamaica’s U-23 squad, where he scored one goal in two appearances during the last round of qualifying in June. In USL this season, the 20-year-old midfielder has started six of his nine appearances for Whitecaps FC 2, scoring two goals and recording two assists.

Prior to departing, Lewis will be available for WFC2 as they travel to Seattle to take on Sounders FC 2 this Saturday, August 8. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT, live on whitecapsfc2.com.
