Will Chelsea defend its English Premier League title? 'Caps make their predictions

Wayne Rooney - Manchester United

It’s prediction time!

With the 2015-16 English Premier League season set to kick off on Saturday morning, we asked five Whitecaps FC players which team they think will take the title at the end of the season.

Here’s what they had to say.

Sam Adekugbe: Chelsea

“I’m a Manchester City fan, but I think Chelsea will win it again. They can score goals, but if they can’t score goals they can also defend really well and that’s why they’re going to win. I think Man City and Arsenal will be their toughest competitors. You never know with Manchester United.”

Robert Earnshaw: Chelsea

“They’ve got a good team already, they’ve got a style of playing that’s effective, and what I like is that they’ve added Falcao. I think that’s a great signing. At Man United, I felt he was wasted to be honest. When you have a quality striker, I think you have to use them. Especially the type of striker he is and where he is in his career, I think he’s a great player and a huge addition. I think you’ll see him shine at Chelsea. Then of course you have Fabregas and Hazard together, it’s the reason why I watch Chelsea. Man United have made some good signings, but I actually don’t believe they’re a better team than they were last year. I think they’re capable, but I think it will be Chelsea one, Man United maybe two if they gel, and then Man City. But I can’t see anybody ahead of Chelsea.”

Jordan Harvey: Chelsea

“It’s nothing that creative or interesting, but I still think that Chelsea will win. I think they just have the manager, the squad, the depth, and what’s been good with our team this season is that we’ve had the consistency and they’ll have that as well.”

Kekuta Manneh: Manchester United

“I'm a big Man U fan. I just think the new players the coach brought in are going to help us fight for the title. Schweinsteiger with the experience, Memphis Dephay with the skill and ability he has. Then there’s Schneiderlin and the new right back, hopefully we’ll be signing Pedro from Barcelona, so I think we’re looking really strong. Probably just need one more defender – Sergio Ramos would be great. Chelsea, Man City, and Arsenal are going to be good too, but I think it’s going to be Man U at the end.”

David Ousted: Manchester City

“That’s tough. This year is one of the toughest to predict. I think there are four or five title contenders and I don’t see any of them having a clear cut advantage. I think Chelsea and Man City will battle it out this year, but you’ll see a team like United be up there too. And I think Arsenal this year with Cech in goal and the way they play, I think they’re going to be title contenders as well. I think I heard Mourinho saying that even the teams under these title contenders are getting so much stronger, so you’ll see a lot more teams losing points. I think it’s going to be a lot tighter this year – I don’t think you’ll see any team going 10-12 points ahead. But if I had to choose one team, I’ll say Man City.”
