Whitecaps FC name Drissa Bouare to Kootenay Academy Centre staff

VANCOUVER, BC – Whitecaps FC announced on Tuesday that Drissa Bouare has been named a staff coach at the Whitecaps FC Kootenay Academy Centre, joining head coach Brett Adams and assistant coach Sam Heap.


Bouare, a BC Provincial ‘B’ License coach, played collegiately at Vancouver Island University, helping the Mariners finish as Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national silver medalists. At VIU, Bouare was mentored by current Whitecaps FC Upper Island head coach Bill Merriman.


During his time on the island, the native of Mali coached at Mid-Isle Highlanders FC for three seasons, as well as at Mid-Isle Youth Soccer Club and as an assistant coach with the U-16 Upper Island Storm in the Vanvouver Island Premier League (VIPL). Bouare also led a number of camps for Pacific Sport and Merriman Soccer, as well as with Whitecaps FC Prospects Camps.
