VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Friday that midfielder Russell Teibert underwent successful surgery for a bone spur in his left ankle this morning. Teibert is expected to make a full recovery prior to the start of the 2016 training camp.

A product of the Whitecaps FC Residency program, the 22-year-old native of Niagara Falls, Ontario, made 29 appearances in all competitions with Whitecaps FC this past season. In August, Teibert was presented the George Gross Memorial Trophy as the tournament MVP after Whitecaps FC won their first-ever Voyageurs Cup in the Amway Canadian Championship.

The Canadian international joined the club’s Residency program in the summer of 2008 and has made 106 first team appearances in all competitions, while recording two goals and 14 assists.
