Let the speculation begin.


The 2016 MLS Player Combine is set to get underway on Thursday – one week ahead of the MLS SuperDraft. You know what that means: it’s mock draft season.


As we all know, anything can happen on draft day.


No one really knows who’s going where – especially not at this point. For example, MLS has yet to announce this year’s crop of Generation adidas signings (underclassmen) or international invitees.


But it’s still fun to guess.


And that’s what Soccer By Ives and Top Drawer Soccer, two of the more trusted media sources in the college game, have done. Here’s who they have Vancouver Whitecaps FC selecting at 16th overall in the first versions of their 2016 mock drafts.

“Salazar has the speed and lateral quickness the Whitecaps typically ask out of their forwards in Carl Robinson's run-and-gun system. He's a bit more plodding than Rivero or Mattocks, so the Whitecaps could use him as a change of pace guy up top.”
