VANCOUVER, BC – A throng of local reporters descended upon the Vancouver Whitecaps FC UBC Training Centre on Friday, as the ‘Caps kicked off their 2016 preseason with a Media Day.

So what were the major talking points?

See below for a selection of press clippings that sum up the day.

KONICHIWA, KUDO

Jim Morris of The Canadian Press and Cam Tucker of Metro News focused on the addition of Japanese striker Masato Kudo, who spoke to local media for the first time.

NEW YEAR, NEW FACES

Global’s Barry Deley also featured Kudo, as well as recently-acquired Costa Rican midfielder Christian Bolanos.

MOTIVATED MORALES

Marc Weber of The Province caught up with Whitecaps FC midfielder Pedro Morales, who has already been in Vancouver training for two weeks, and discussed Carl Robinson's search for a new right back.

ON LOCATION

Peter Schaad and his colleagues from the Footy Soliders podcast provided wall-to-wall coverage of Media Day on this week’s episode, which was recorded on location at the UBC Training Centre.

AROUND MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER

In other news, it was reported this weekend that Didier Drogba will in fact report to Montreal Impact for the 2016 season. Will we see him at BC Place on March 6? It sure appears that way.

Meanwhile, LA Galaxy appear to be close to signing a few more European internationals, while Seattle Sounders FC have signed forward Jordan Morris to the richest Homegrown contract in MLS history.
