Vancouver Whitecaps FC defeated NASL side Minnesota United FC 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to conclude their preseason schedule with a 5W-1L-0D record.
Now, the real fun starts.
But as we await for March 6, let’s take a look at some of the best moments of the preseason.
BEST GOAL
Octavio Rivero, who finished the preseason with two goals and an assist, gets the nod over Deybi Flores’ goal vs. New England for this curling left-footed strike.
Certainly doesn’t hurt that it came against Portland.
No contest.
This David Ousted save came in Vancouver’s preseason opener against Seattle. Sure looks like he has picked up where he left off in 2015.
BEST PERFORMANCE
It was the Pedro Morales show in Saturday’s preseason finale against Minnesota United FC.
The ‘Caps captain scored a pair of goals and drew a free kick on the play that led to Vancouver’s other goal. He also did things like this for fun:
Sam Adekugbe âž¡ Cristian Techera âž¡ Back of the net.
Speaking of Techera, how about this cheeky little free kick that led to Rivero’s goal vs. Minnesota?
One of the themes for Whitecaps FC this preseason was the play of the team’s youngsters.
That was certainly the theme on February 9, when 15-year-old Alphonso Davies and 19-year-old Marco Bustos combined to score the game-winner against Houston Dynamo.
Fraser Aird, right back or Olympic sprinter?
We saw the horns for the first time this preseason – the first of many, we hope.
