Darren Mattocks tweeted out the letter below after the announcement of his trade to Portland.
When I look back at my journey years from now, I can tell my kids I’ve enjoyed every moment I spent in Vancouver. A beautiful city, beautiful people, and a great club.
In life, things will not always work out as how we want it simply because GOD may have bigger plans for us all. During my time in Vancouver, both good and not so good, each and every moment I tried my very best both on and off the field. Regardless of how things worked out, I can proudly say I did my best every single time!
So from the depths of my heart, I want to thank all of those who were and are still a part of the Whitecaps organization and also the great fans there. Life will take us all in different places and we’ll face different challenges but we all got to be willing to accept and be ready for it.
As for my teammates I’m leaving behind in Vancouver, thank you very much for everything. You all played an integral part of my development and I won’t take that for granted.
