Another week, another clean sheet, another MLS Team of the Week nod for David Ousted.
The Vancouver Whitecaps FC goalkeeper was named to the MLS Team of the Week for the second week in a row after helping the 10-men ‘Caps earn a scoreless draw with LA Galaxy.
Ousted made four saves, including this point-blank stunner on Gyasi Zardes.
“It [hit my] face,” Ousted confirmed after the match. “Whatever works. Whatever we can get in front of to keep it out of the net.”
Interestingly, Ousted also led the 'Caps with 66 touches on Saturday. What can't he do?
After allowing five goals in the first two matches, including an uncharacteristic error in the season opener, Ousted has now conceded just one goal in Vancouver's last three matches. In case there was ever any doubt, and there shouldn't have been, the Great Dane is back.
"He’s a top keeper," Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson told reporters. "We know that, which is why we wanted to keep him at this club. Him, along with the back four, kept a clean sheet against a very good team."
