Christian Dean

The contents of a tattoo say a lot about the individual wearing it. Not only are they an expression of art, they’re an expression of a person’s character and values, which explains the rationale behind ‘Caps Ink – a new series that brings you closer to your favourite Whitecaps FC, and WFC2, stars.

May the 4th be with you.

This Wednesday, May 4 is Star Wars Night at UBC, as WFC2 host Tulsa Roughnecks FC at 7 p.m. PT. So we thought this would be the perfect time to feature Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Christian Dean – a self-proclaimed “Star Wars geek.”

Don’t believe it? He has the tattoos to prove it.

Most of Dean’s tattoos revolve around his family, as he’s discussed before. He actually drew most of them himself, including a lighthouse that serves as a “guiding light” in honour of his grandma.

Family comes first for Dean, but he also has three Star Wars tattoos.

There’s one of Darth Vader on his left shoulder, a recent addition that was actually partially designed by a member of Whitecaps FC supporters’ group Rain City Brigade, one of Boba Fett a little lower, and one of a storm trooper on the back of his arm.

Star Wars geek, and proud of it.

“I used to watch it all the time when I was younger, when I was allowed, and I’ve seen the new movie a bunch of times,” Dean told whitecapsfc.com. “I’ve always been a huge fan.”
