After the well-documented birth of “Churcherdo,” Erik Hurtado and Cristian Techera have been voted co-winners of the Whitecaps FC Player of the Month, presented by Coldwell Banker, for August. Hurtado and Techera each received 32 per cent of the vote in a poll conducted on Twitter this week, beating out centre backs David Edgar (19 per cent) and Kendall Waston (17 per cent).
Hurtado had a goal and two assists in three appearances during the month of August and was voted Man of the Match on August 27 against LA Galaxy, while Techera scored a team-high three goals in five appearances in all competitions.

The Whitecaps FC Youth Player of the Month for August is Girls Elite Regional Excel Centre (REX) forward
Jordyn Huitema
. The Chilliwack, B.C. native played a big part in Canada’s second-place finish at the recent 2016 CONCACAF Girls’ U-15 Championship, scoring eight goals in six appearances.
She also served as team captain and was named to the tournament's Best XI.
“Not only is Jordyn a bright young player, she’s also an extremely hard worker who excels in the classroom,” said Emma Humphries, head of the club’s Girls Elite REX program. “She represented her country very well and is deserving of this honour.”
