On February 22, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will participate in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals for the first time. Learn more about our Champions League quest HERE.

Vancouver is the Rain City.
If you live here, you especially know this to be true.
But we’re not embarrassed by it. We’re not ashamed of where we come from or what people call our city. No, we embrace it.

On February 22, it's time to #RiseUpRainCity -

When announcer Jim McKay famously called us “a deserted village” in 1979, we took it as a challenge. We beat the big city New York Cosmos, then we went on to win the Soccer Bowl on their home turf, hoisting the trophy at Giants Stadium in New Jersey.
Over 100,000 people celebrated the championship parade in downtown Vancouver.
Oh how mighty this little village can be.
So call us what you want. We are the Rain City and we’re damn proud of it.
Vancouverites are always ready for a rainy day.
Our players, they call this home. They’re used to training in the wet and cold. When the rain delay came in Columbus last year, it was our rallying cry. And when it came again three days later in Kansas City with a chance to qualify for the Champions League quarterfinals, it was
as if the stage was perfectly set
.

History was made, but it’s not over yet.
Now, we return to the scene of that 1979 Soccer Bowl. The Village of Vancouver is going back to New Jersey.
Once again, we have a chance to unite together and achieve something truly great. No MLS team has ever won the CONCACAF Champions League.
It’s time to put our city back on the map and be proud of everything that makes it great.
On February 22, the journey continues.
