#RiseUpRainCity: The roof will be OPEN on Wednesday night at BC Place

Roof Open

It’s time to #RiseUpRainCity.

On Wednesday night at BC Place, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will host Mexican powerhouse Tigres UANL in the decisive second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals (7 p.m. PT at BC Place – tickets still available).

Yes, rain is in the forecast. Yes, the roof will be open. And yes, we hope it's going to be a wet, cold, and miserable night on the pitch.

Vancouverites are always ready for a rainy day.

Our players are used to training in the wet and cold. When the rain delay came in Columbus last year, it was our rallying cry. And when it came again three days later in Kansas City with a chance to qualify for the Champions League quarterfinals, it was as if the stage was perfectly set.

Let’s see how the reigning Mexican champs enjoy these conditions. It certainly won’t be the warm and dry weather that they’re used to.

Make sure to dress for the weather (unlike the pitch, the stands are covered so you won't have to worry about staying dry). And make sure you’re ready to give your all for 90 minutes (or more in the case of a 2-0 Whitecaps FC win, which would send the series to extra time). This is one of the biggest matches in the club’s 43-year history, and after losing 2-0 in the first leg, some are seeing this as what Carl Robinson referred to as a “Mission Impossible.”

But we’re not dead yet.

You can bet the boys will give everything they have and we need you – the fans – to do the same. Over 200 travelling Tigres fans will be in attendance. As we saw in the first leg, they certainly love their footy. But so do we. Let’s show them how much on Wednesday night.
