BIOGRAPHYPROFILEIn her sixth year with the Whitecaps, and having only just turned 21, Jodi-Ann Robinson has long been rated as one of Canada's most promising young players. A regular with the Canadian national team, Robinson is known for her athleticism, skill on the ball, and eagerness to take players on. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC 2005: Robinson debuted at only 16 years of age. She scored in her first ever match with the club against Mile High on May 22. The Richmond native helped the ‘Caps secure first place with her second goal of the season against Seattle on July 9 in Kelowna. She finished the season with 2 goals in 5 appearances. 2006: The Canadian National team player appeared in 5 matches during the ‘Caps Championship season. She scored her lone goal against San Diego Gauchos on June 30. She also played in both the W-League semifinal and championship matches. 2007: With the majority of the 2006 Championship squad away on national team duty, Robinson enjoyed an increased role with the ‘Caps. The 5’4 striker appeared in all 12 regular season matches, tying for second on the team with 8 points from 3 goals and 2 assists. She got off to a quick start by scoring against Seattle in the season opener on May 20. She followed that up with a goal against Fort Collins on June 17. She netted her third and final goal of the season on June 30 against Real Colorado. 2008: The 19 year old missed most of the season after being called up to play for Canada in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She finished the season with 3 appearances, tallying a single assist in the season opener against Ventura County Fusion on May 17. 2009: Robinson continued to show progress by leading the team with 15 points. The young striker made 10 appearances scoring a team high 7 goals with 1 assist. INTERNATIONAL U-20: As a member of Canada’s U-20 national team, Robinson helped Canada win the 2008 CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship, where notched a goal in the semifinal versus tournament hosts Mexico. In 2006, Robinson scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Finland at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Russia before being named 2006 Canadian Youth Player of the Year. The striker played in 32 U-20 internationals for her country. Senior: As a member of Canada’s senior national team, Robinson made her debut on April 21, 2005, against Germany at the age of 16. She has since made 41 senior appearances, scoring six goals during that time. In September 2007, Robinson represented Canada at the FIFA World Cup in China, where she made three appearances. Robinson also started all four of the matches for the recent 2010 Cyprus Cup against Switzerland, England, South Africa and New Zealand. COLLEGE Robinson plans to attend UCLA in 2010. |
