PROFILE
A consistently strong central midfielder with experience of top-level youth soccer in the Netherlands, Bobby Jhutty returned home to join the Whitecaps Residency program in Sept. 2008. The native of Surrey, BC, has represented British Columbia at youth level.
 
WHITECAPS FC RESIDENCY–USL PDL
2009: Jhutty made his PDL debut as a substitute on May 3, as he replaced Sahil Sandhu late on in the Residency team's 2-2 draw at home with expansion club Victoria Highlanders. He then scored his first PDL goal in a 6-0 home win over Spokane Spiders on June 13. Jhutty appeared in all but three of the Residency team's 16 PDL matches during his rookie season.
 
VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC RESIDENCY
2008-09: Jhutty appeared in four of the Residency team's five friendly matches during their highly successful 12-day tour of Japan in Dec. 2008. After being a substitute in victories over Vissel Kobe U-19's (Dec. 7) and Kyoto Sanga U-19's (Dec. 10), the midfielder started and scored the winning goal in a 3-0 win over Gamba Osaka U-19's on Dec. 11. He also started in the 4-2 success over Himeji City U-19's on Dec. 13. In Apr. 2009, Jhutty made two substitute appearances in the U-19 Super Group at Dallas Cup XXX before starting the 2-0 semifinal win over Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt on Apr. 10. In May 2009, Jhutty appeared as a substitute in all four friendly matches during the Residency team's two-week trip to Germany. This included an assist on Coulton Jackson's goal during a 5-2 friendly win over the U-19 Junior Bundesliga side of Hansa Rostock on May 26. The midfielder also appeared in the 2009 INSEL-CUP junior international tournament in Germany. 2009-10: Jhutty started all five friendly matches of the Residency team's two-week trip to Spain in Nov. 2009. This included a 2-2 draw against the U-18 side of Club Atlético de Madrid on Nov. 4 and the 2-0 victory over the U-18 side of Spanish and European giants Real Madrid Club de Fútbol on Nov. 11. In the spring of 2010, Jhutty appeared versus United States national team (91/92 - Mar. 29) and Mexico national team (Mar. 31) in Bracket D of the U-19 Super Group at Dallas Cup XXXI. The midfielder also played the first half of the 1-1 friendly draw with Germany's TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Apr. 3.
 
DUTCH EREDIVISIE
2007-08: Before joining Whitecaps Residency, Jhutty spent a season in the Netherlands with Sparta Rotterdam, whose first team play in the top-flight Eredivisie. The midfielder was part of the club's U-16 B1 side during his season in Europe.
 
YOUTH/AMATEUR
Between 1999 and 2004, the midfielder was a member of the Guildford United Metro program at the Guildford Athletic Club in Surrey, BC. He then joined the Metro program at Surrey United Soccer Club when he became a member of their U-13 team in 2004. In 2006, Jhutty led Surrey United U-14 Metro to a fourth-place finish at the Canadian Club Championship in Vaughan, Ontario. As a member of the British Columbia U-14 provincial team, the midfielder earned a silver medal after the team's second-place finish at the 2006 Canadian All-Star Championship in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
 
PERSONAL
Formally known as Bhupinder Jhutty, the midfielder was born in Vancouver, BC, but raised in Surrey, BC. His parents are Balbir and Manjinder Jhutty, while he also has a brother named Vicky. Between 2005 and 2007, the midfielder attended Fraser Heights Secondary School in Surrey, BC, before spending the 2007-08 school year at Rotterdam International Secondary School in the Netherlands. He returned to Fraser Heights for a semester in the fall of 2008 before attending Burnaby Central Secondary School in 2009. Jhutty also studied at Dogwood Elementary School in Surrey, BC, between 1997 and 2005.
