A commanding centre back, Selena Odegard brought experience of representing British Columbia at provincial level as well as a number of successes at club level when she joined Vancouver Whitecaps FC in September 2012.
Odegard started out at North Shore Girls Soccer Club in 2003 where she remained until 2008 when she joined Mountain WFC for two years. In 2011 she started playing for Mountain United FC where she helped the team win the Gold Medal in the 2011 Adidas Cup. She has also represented the BC provincial team from 2009-2012 during which time she was named captain of the U14 team in 2010. Selena won another Gold Medal with BC in the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games. Between 2009 and 2012, Odegard also attended the National Training Center.
North Vancouver is home for Selena, along with her brother Mattias and sister Erika. Selena holds both Canadian and Japanese nationalities and she is currently attending Argyle Secondary School in North Vancouver.
Selena is incredibly active and lists her hobbies as dirt biking, horseback riding, snowboarding, music, tennis, watching hockey, swimming, diving and ice skating. She fuels her many activities with her favourite foods Greek salad, pasta and Japanese food. When she finds time she enjoys watching Spain, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United. Her favourite players are Lionel Messi and Canadian hero Christine Sinclair, and she would one day like to play at the venue of the 2002 World Cup final, the International Stadium in Yokohama.
