A diminutive striker with strong leadership qualities, Sessen Stevens joined Vancouver Whitecaps FC in September 2012 from Mountain United FC having also represented British Columbia at provincial level.
Sessen has enjoyed a distinguished youth career to date. She turned out for Surrey Pegasus FC from 2002-2011 before signing up for Mountain United FC where she played between 2011-2012. She has represented the BC Provincial team from 2009-2012 where she captained the U15 and U16 teams. She finished 2nd at Nationals with the U14 Provincial team and 3rd at Nationals the following year. The forward was awarded a Player of the Game award whilst competing in the 2011 Coastal Cup Championship and whilst with Mountain United FC her team won the Adidas Champions Cup in 2011 with Stevens being awarded the Golden Boot for the tournament. Sessen also helped BC to become Western Summer Games Provincial Champions in both 2009 and 2011.
Hailing from Delta BC, Sessen’s parents are David and Ruth Stevens and she has a brother named Simeon. In 2014 she will graduate from Surrey Christian Secondary School.
Sessen enjoys hanging out with friends in her spare time and fortunately, considering her chosen career, she also enjoys running. She has an ambition to make it to the Canadian National team which would help with another of her passions, travelling. She is a fan of the Spanish National team, in particular the strikers David Villa and Fernando Torres.
