Hailing from Vancouver, BC, midfielder Boubacar Zan Diarra joined Whitecaps FC Residency in Sept. 2011 after being a member of the club’s Prospects program.

From 2009 to 2011, Diarra was a member of Whitecaps FC Prospects, where he trained under Residency staff coach Bart Choufour.
Diarra has played his entire youth career in his hometown of Vancouver, BC, having started with East Vancouver’s Grandview Legion Football Club. The midfielder played Gold-level soccer with Grandview Legion from 2005 to 2008 before joining Kerrisdale Soccer Club on Vancouver’s west side, where he also played Gold-level soccer in the 2009-10 season. In two years at the Port Moody Spring Showcase, the midfielder earned Player of the Game honours at the U-12 and U-13 levels. He then joined Vancouver FC’s U-14 B squad in the 2010-11 season, where he played under former Whitecaps FC players Jason Jordan and Steve Kindel. In 2011, Diarra played in the United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League with Coastal FC’s U-14 squad.
As a student, Diarra currently attends École secondaire Jules-Verne in Vancouver, BC.
The midfielder’s two favourite teams are European giants AC Milan and Barcelona, while his favourite player is AC Milan and Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Off the soccer pitch, Diarra enjoys basketball, movies, and comedy shows. His favourite food is salmon.
